Green missions to tackle the climate emergency

The University College London, a GROWINPRO partner, organises the Mission-Oriented Innovation Network’s Global Gathering, a three-day online event series on February 8-10, 2022

The Institute for innovation and public purpose (IIPP) of the University College London (UCL), a GROWINPRO’s partner, organises the “Mission-Oriented Innovation Network’s Global Gathering”, a three-day online event series dedicated to the topic of the mission-oriented policy to tackle the climate emergency, to be held from Tuesday, February 8th to Thursday, February 10th.

The event, which follows on from COP26 and its urgent mandate, will explore and highlight the highly critical roles of both finance and design in driving the transition. It will draw from insights from policymakers and actors globally who are implementing a mission-oriented approach.

The critical need to address the climate crisis is taking centre stage in policymaking. During the series, experts, academics and policymakers will examine the power and potential of design for shaping inclusive, just and green missions, and will assess what are the implications of adopting a mission-oriented policy and innovation approach. One session will be dedicated to the financial sector, and how it can be overhauled to enable a green, just and equitable transition.

The event will be opened on February 8th by a round table with IIPP’s director, and GROWINPRO researcher, Mariana Mazzucato, Clara de la Torre, Mission Manager for the Adaptation to Climate Change mission at the European Union and Dr Alex Cook, General Manager for the Missions Programme within CSIRO, Australia’s National Science Agency.
