Monetary policies after the crisis. A workshop in Paris

The event took place in Paris on May 15, 2019, and was jointly organized by OFCE, the Revue Française d’Economie and GDRE (Groupement De Recherche Européen) on Money, Banking and Finance

GROWINPRO researcher Mauro Napoletano contributed to the workshop ‘Monetary policies after the crisis’, held in Paris on May 15, 2019.

The consensus about the design and conduct of monetary policies coined in the late 1990s has been widely questioned over the past decade. The crisis has forced a re-definition of central bank objectives and instruments. It has also generated a vivid debate about the foundations of the theories inspiring monetary policy as well as about the coordination between monetary policies on the one hand and fiscal and macro-prudential policies on the other side.

The workshop gathered contributions from academic scholars and central bankers and aims to explore what should remain of all the above developments triggered by the Great Recession.

The workshop was hosted by OFCE-Sciences Po in Paris, and was jointly organized by OFCE, the Revue Française d’Economie and GDRE (Groupement De Recherche Européen) on Money, Banking and Finance.
