Public is better. The role of the State in the post-pandemic world

GROWINPRO organizes the presentation of the volume by Altero Frigerio and Roberta Lisi, followed by a public debate with the economists Dosi and Roventini, and the undersecretary of MEF, Maria Cecilia Guerra

As part of its public engagement activities, the GROWINPRO project is hosting a public debate with experts, practitioners and policy makers on the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of the State. The presentation of the book ‘Public is better’ by Altero Frigerio and Roberta Lisi, recently published by Donzelli, will be at the center of the event, held online on April 8 (at 4 pm).

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated pre-existing inequalities. To tackle the social and economic fallout the EU has put in place a recovery plan, known as Next Generation EU. European governments are therefore now facing the question: What is the role that the State should play? A simple maintenance work, or a mission-oriented reconstruction to steer the economy toward a more inclusive, sustainable and innovative path?

The presentation of the volume ‘Public is better’, will focus on these themes. Participants include Roberta Lisi, curator of the volume along with Altero Frigerio, Maria Cecilia Guerra, undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, GROWINPRO researchers Andrea Roventini and Giovanni Dosi, and the economists Emanuele Felice and Laura Pennacchi. The debate will be chaired by Alessandro Nuvolari, Director of the Institute of Economics of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa.

The event is organised by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Unit and will be held in Italian.
