The cost and opportunity of climate change: what policies for the green transition

GROWINPRO’s coordinator addresses a plenary at the FMM conference, held in Berlin on October 28-31, 2021

GROWINPRO’s principal investigator, Andrea Roventini, is addressing a plenary session at the “25th FMM conference: macroeconomics of socio-ecological transition”, to be held in Berlin from the 28th to the 30th of October 2021, with a presentation on “The cost and opportunity of climate change: policies for the green transition”.

The conference is focused on the themes of social inequalities, climate change and environmental pollution, and it’s aimed at discussing what is the role that macroeconomics can play to facilitate a just transition toward a sustainable and inclusive world economy, and how can macroeconomic modelling be improved by including a socio-ecological dimension.

The event is organised by the Forum for Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policies (FMM), an organisation that seeks to promote an exchange between competing theoretical paradigms and covers present debates on macroeconomic theories and issues.

Providing a comprehensive diagnostic of the climate emergency and of its consequences, as well as laying out a set of policy proposals to push Europe towards an innovation-fuelled growth is one of the core objectives of the EU-funded GROWINPRO project and well in line with the actual European policies.

The first GROWINPRO short documentary focuses on the Green New Deal and on the policies that we need to implement in order to jumpstart a green, smart and inclusive growth.
